Right before the Premier League match between Liverpool and Arsenal, there was an unexpected change in the officiating team. Michael Salisbury, who was set to be the video assistant referee, was removed after a controversial moment in the Chelsea vs Fulham match.
John Brooks will take over VAR duties at Anfield in Salisbury’s place. This change comes after Salisbury advised referee Rob Jones to disallow a Fulham goal, citing a foul by Rodrigo Muniz on Trevoh Chalobah during Saturday’s game at Stamford Bridge.
The PGMOL acknowledged that this VAR decision did not align with their standards. Referees’ chief Howard Webb also reached out to Fulham following the incident.
