Report: Cristiano Ronaldo’s updated market value after end of season with Al Nassr

The 2024–25 season has come to a close for Al Nassr, and with it, the market values of Saudi Pro League players have been updated—Cristiano Ronaldo included.

Cristiano Ronaldo began the 2024–25 season with Al Nassr carrying high expectations, as the club was competing not only in the Saudi Pro League, but also in the AFC Champions League Elite and the King’s Cup. However, things didn’t go according to plan, with Al Nassr falling short of winning any titles. In that context, the market values of players across the league have now been revised.

The specialist website Transfermarkt released its updated list this Wednesday, evaluating nearly 500 Saudi Pro League players. While many saw their market values drop—contributing to an overall dip in the league’s valuation—Cristiano was an exception.

Thanks to consistently strong performances, Ronaldo maintained his valuation at €12 million (approximately $13.6 million), a figure that has held steady since December 2024. That makes the Portuguese forward the most valuable player in the world over the age of 40.

Al Nassr finished third in the Saudi Pro League standings with 70 points, trailing champions Karim Benzema’s Al Ittihad by 13, and runner-up Al Hilal by 5. In the AFC Champions League Elite, they were eliminated in the semifinals by Japan’s Kawasaki Frontale, while in the King’s Cup, they exited in the round of 16 against Al Taawon.

These disappointing results didn’t overshadow Cristiano Ronaldo’s individual performance. He ended the season as the top scorer in the Saudi league with 24 goals—two more than Al Ahli’s Ivan Toney. Across all competitions, the Portuguese star racked up an impressive 35 goals in 41 matches.

What was Cristiano Ronaldo’s highest market value?

While the current $13.6 million valuation is remarkable for a 40-year-old player and speaks volumes about Ronaldo’s longevity, it’s still a far cry from his peak market value during the prime of his career.

According to Transfermarkt, Cristiano reached his highest market value during his time with Real Madrid. Between 2014 and 2015, at age 30, the Portuguese star was valued at €120 million (around $136 million). He hit that mark again in 2018, following his last UEFA Champions League title.

Since then, the trend has been downward. After his move to Juventus, Ronaldo’s value hovered around $113 million. By the time he left Italy to rejoin Manchester United in 2021 at age 36, his value had dropped to $40 million. When CR7 arrived in Saudi Arabia at the beginning of 2023, he was valued at $17 million. His most recent dip came in December 2024, bringing him to his current price tag.

The most valuable players in the Saudi Pro League

According to Transfermarkt, the most valuable player in the Saudi Pro League is one of Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nassr teammates: Jhon Duran. The Colombian forward saw his valuation fall from $45 million to $39.6 million, but still holds the top spot in the league.

Next on the list are Al Ittihad’s Moussa Diaby at $34 million, Al Ahli’s Ivan Toney at $28 million, and Al Hilal’s Ruben Neves—also at $28 million. Cristiano Ronaldo currently ranks 24th in that league-wide valuation chart.
