After the match against Panathinaikos on Thursday night, Feyenoord’s coach, Robin van Persie, commented on the performance of Algerian striker Anis Hadj Moussa, and his remarks were critical. “He played poorly. Very erratic, too, but he still scored a fantastic goal. Hadj Moussa has this ability to create moments out of nowhere. And indeed, he scored a fantastic goal. But I found his overall play lacking. I told him this as well. Generally, however, I think he is making significant progress in the right direction,” he stated following the victory.
These were tough words from the former Manchester United star directed at the 23-year-old international, who scored the opening goal in the 55th minute of Feyenoord’s 3-1 victory. Since taking over the club last winter, Van Persie has been performing well; despite finishing third last season, Feyenoord is currently leading the Eredivisie standings.
