Inter Miami has finalized the permanent transfer of Rodrigo De Paul, who left Atlético Madrid in July 2025. The Argentine midfielder is now contracted with the Florida franchise until 2029, joining Major League Soccer to play alongside his friend Lionel Messi, ensuring optimal playing time as he prepares for the 2026 World Cup. At 31 years old, De Paul has already made a significant impact in Miami, contributing to their first MLS title with 2 goals and 4 assists in 26 matches across all competitions.
His departure from Atlético leaves the Madrid club with around €15 million, including various options, as reported by Marca. De Paul arrived in Spain in 2021 from Udinese for €36 million and played 187 matches, scoring 14 goals and providing 24 assists over 4 seasons. With no agreement reached to extend his contract with the Rojiblancos, he opted for the MLS as a new sporting and personal challenge, thus strengthening Inter Miami’s ambitious project. Atlético Madrid announced on social media: “We wish you the best of luck in this new professional adventure, Rodri!”
