Footem.in – AS Roma has officially signed young defender Jan Ziolkowski from Legia Warsaw for a transfer fee of around €6 million (approximately Rp106 billion), plus potential add-ons and a 10% sell-on clause.
Ziolkowski, a 20-year-old center-back, has signed a five-year contract extending until the summer of 2030. He will wear the number 24 jersey for his debut season at the Stadio Olimpico.
This transfer marks Roma’s seventh signing of the summer window, following the arrivals of Wesley Franca, Neil El-Aynaoui, Leon Bailey, Evan Ferguson, Daniele Ghilardi, and Devis Vasquez.
A statement released by Roma read:
“AS Roma is delighted to confirm the signing of Jan Ziolkowski from Legia Warsaw on a permanent transfer.
The 20-year-old central defender is a product of the Polonia Warsaw academy before joining Legia in 2022. He broke into the first team during the 2024/25 season and became a regular in the Ekstraklasa (Polish top flight) and European competitions.
Ziolkowski has chosen to wear the number 24 shirt at Roma. Welcome to Roma, Jan!”
Roma coach Gian Piero Gasperini briefly mentioned the Ziolkowski transfer during a press conference on Friday. He indicated that the signing was largely influenced by sporting director Ricky Massara.
“Massara discovered Ziolkowski,” Gasperini said. “I trust him. I’ve only seen him on video.
He will certainly get an opportunity, and we will see how he develops. We hope he can reach a high level.”
