Earlier this season, he criticized the squad’s lack of depth as “disgraceful” after the team failed to make enough signings in January amid several injuries. He has also pointed out poor communication from the club’s leadership during tough times.
Various clubs in Spain and England are showing interest in the World Cup winner, and Fabrizio Romano has suggested a transfer could still occur, despite Romero signing a new contract last summer.
Atletico Madrid and Manchester United are among the clubs linked with the defender.
