Cristiano Ronaldo missed another chance for an official title with Al Nassr after his team lost 2-1 to Al Ittihad in the Round of 16 of the King’s Cup. This defeat brings attention to the titles won by Lionel Messi with Inter Miami.
As Ronaldo enters his fourth season with Al Nassr, he has not yet secured an official trophy. The team still competes for the Saudi Pro League and the AFC Champions League. His only success in a final was the Arab Club Champions Cup, which is not officially recognized by either the AFC or FIFA.
In contrast, since joining Inter Miami in July 2023, Messi has won two official titles: the Leagues Cup in August 2023, where Miami beat Nashville in a tense 10-9 penalty shootout, and the MLS Supporters’ Shield in October 2024, awarded to the best team of the regular season.
Inter Miami is still competing for the MLS Cup, having won Game 1 in the first round of the playoffs against Nashville. However, this season’s Supporters’ Shield went to the Philadelphia Union, while the 2025 Leagues Cup was won by the Seattle Sounders, who defeated Messi’s team 3-0 in the final.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s missed chances with Al Nassr
Cristiano Ronaldo has had several opportunities to win an official trophy with Al Nassr but has not succeeded. The latest setback was a penalty shootout loss in the 2025 Saudi Super Cup against Al Ahli, following a 1-1 draw. This came after a heavy 4-1 loss to Al Hilal in the 2024 edition of the same event.
Ronaldo’s first shot at a trophy with the team was in the 2023-24 King’s Cup, where Al Nassr also lost on penalties to Al Hilal.
The only title Ronaldo has won with Al Nassr is the Arab Club Champions Cup, where he scored twice to secure a 2-1 victory over Al Hilal. However, this title is not officially recognized by the AFC or FIFA, categorizing it as an exhibition tournament.
Lionel Messi’s missed opportunities with Inter Miami
Lionel Messi has also encountered several chances to win more trophies with Inter Miami. The most recent miss was the 3-0 defeat against the Seattle Sounders in the 2025 Leagues Cup Final.
Earlier, Messi had the opportunity to win the US Open Cup when Miami reached the final against the Houston Dynamo. However, his team lost 2-1, and Messi was unable to play due to an injury.
