Roy Keane is regarded as one of the top players in Manchester United’s history.

During his 11 and a half years at the club, he helped United win a UEFA Champions League title, seven Premier League trophies, and four FA Cups.

Many consider him one of the best captains in English football.

Keane’s dedication to the club is evident in his media career after retirement, despite a disappointing exit in 2005 and his public disagreements with former manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Keane experienced the club’s peak years and has deep knowledge of its workings.

He has openly discussed the current challenges facing the club, especially regarding midfielder Kobbie Mainoo.

Mainoo had a strong debut season for United but has faced limited playing time since manager Ruben Amorim took over.

Mainoo’s half-brother, Jordan Mainoo-Hames, attended the recent 4-4 match against AFC Bournemouth and shared a photo on Instagram wearing a ‘Free Kobbie Mainoo’ t-shirt.

This attracted media attention, and Keane shared his views on Mainoo’s situation during the Stick to Football podcast.

“Are you saying he can’t wait another six months?”

“He might think the manager could change in the summer, along with some senior players.”

“He’s 20 years old. What’s wrong with learning and waiting? Everyone faces similar situations in their careers.”

“Sometimes, you need to show the manager you can prove him wrong.”

“Every day is a chance to demonstrate your worth. Train hard, and when the lineup is being made, you want to be the one they have to include.”

“He needs to adopt this mindset. And his brother’s actions aren’t helping.”

“Sometimes you have to deal with distractions, especially from family.”

“A footballer’s goal is to show others they were wrong about them.”

“If Bruno gets injured or leaves, that opens opportunities for young players.”

“Loans can be beneficial, but the main challenge is proving yourself at Manchester United.”

“Even if the manager says you’re not ahead of Bruno, your focus should be on proving him wrong.”
