Roy Keane has expressed strong criticism regarding the issues at Manchester United in recent weeks, continuing his remarks before the Manchester derby today.
In a recent episode of The Overlap, he raised concerns about the coaching team’s abilities for the current season.
Keane has never hesitated to share his views on managerial appointments, sparking discussion in the studio earlier today.
With Daniel Sturridge and Micah Richards, Keane questioned the coaching experience of Jonny Evans.
The former Manchester United captain expressed uncertainty about whether bringing Evans back was a good decision.
He was then asked a question that many commentators have considered.
What would Keane do if Manchester United invited him to assist the club?
Sky Sports presenter Dave Jones asked Keane how he would respond to a hypothetical job offer from Old Trafford.
“If they called and asked if I would come and help, I’d probably say no,” said Keane.
“I wouldn’t want to work under people who dictate your staff and player decisions, especially with the current chaos behind the scenes.”
“If the current coaching staff were available next week, would any club in the world consider hiring them? No one would.”
It’s evident that doubts still linger about the leadership at the club as they strive to return to European competition.
The Manchester United management and coaching staff will hope they can prove Keane’s comments wrong.
Meanwhile, Michael Carrick aims to build on a solid start as interim manager after a 2-0 win in the Manchester derby.
