Manchester United Faces Loss Against Aston Villa
Amorim Comments on Fernandes Injury
United’s performance has been erratic, with only two wins in their last five league matches, including a notable 4-4 draw with Bournemouth at home. Meanwhile, Aston Villa has maintained strong play, pressuring both Manchester City and Arsenal in the Premier League standings. A significant setback for United was the exit of their Portuguese star Fernandes at halftime, with Lisandro Martinez stepping in to replace him.
“I think it’s a soft tissue injury, so he will need time to recover. We’ll see,” Amorim said when asked about Fernandes’ condition.
Ruben Amorim Discusses Injury Challenges
Amorim addressed the team’s ongoing injury struggles, stating:
“It’s unusual to have so many issues at this time of the year, but we have to adapt. It’s good that [Jack] Fletcher played his first match, and [Shea] Lacey did too, so we will look for solutions as we prepare for the next game.
“As a manager for six years, and especially at Sporting, my focus is on the academy’s potential. Every manager dreams of promoting young talents rather than spending heavily, as it boosts credibility.
“My goal is to win and ensure that academy players can step up without facing too many difficulties. I aim to support the club, whether by nurturing talent or bringing in players from abroad.”
