Manchester United is in search of a new manager as Ruben Amorim becomes the sixth head coach to leave Old Trafford since Sir Alex Ferguson’s time.

This news has been a major topic for the club since yesterday morning, highlighting the need for stability.

The Red Devils have appointed club legend Darren Fletcher to lead the team for their upcoming game against Burnley at Turf Moor.

He will be assisted by Under-21 manager Travis Binnion and recently retired player Jonny Evans.

Additionally, the club is in discussions with other former players to take on the caretaker role for the rest of the season.

Reports from the Manchester Evening News indicate that the club has reached out to former striker and interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy, as well as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Both have previously held the interim position, with Solskjaer stepping in after Jose Mourinho and van Nistelrooy taking charge last October.

Van Nistelrooy joined United in the summer of 2024 as part of Erik ten Hag’s coaching staff, stepping up to manage after ten Hag’s dismissal.

He led the team through four unbeaten matches until Ruben Amorim and his team arrived from Sporting CP, after which van Nistelrooy left for Leicester City.

While Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is considered a strong candidate for the caretaker role, the contact with Ruud van Nistelrooy shows the club’s intent to involve their former players to help stabilize the team.

The caretaker position for both candidates is expected to last until the summer, giving the club ample time to find a permanent manager.
