Saka and Odegaard Injury Update: Can Arsenal’s Star Duo Play Against Liverpool?

Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka is set to be sidelined for “a few weeks” due to a hamstring injury, as confirmed by manager Mikel Arteta on Friday, just ahead of their Premier League match against Liverpool.

This Sunday’s game at Anfield is vital for both teams, but Arsenal is dealing with several injuries to key players, including captain Martin Odegaard.

Odegaard suffered a shoulder injury during Arsenal‘s recent 5-0 win over Leeds.

“He hasn’t trained yet, and we’ll know more tomorrow,” said Arteta. “We’re doing everything we can to get him back, but we’ll have to wait for his response.”

This week, Odegaard was called up to represent Norway in upcoming matches.

Saka also left the game against Leeds early, and he missed over three months last season due to a hamstring tear that required surgery.

“No surgery this time; it’s not as severe as before,” Arteta noted, adding that it’s a different leg. “He will be out for a few weeks.”

Last season, Arsenal finished as the runners-up to Liverpool.

Kai Havertz underwent knee surgery on Thursday following an injury sustained in the opening match against Manchester United.

“It will be weeks until he’s back, but I can’t say for how many months,” Arteta said about Havertz’s recovery. “He did well to recover from an earlier injury. … Losing another key player for an extended period is tough, but surgery was necessary.”

Havertz was also out for months last season due to a hamstring issue.

The German international shared an update on social media: “Small setback, but thanks to the medical team for their care. I’ll be back soon.”

In response to Havertz’s injury, Arsenal has signed Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace.
