Arne Slot aims to move past the Mo Salah issue following the winger’s performance in Liverpool‘s win over Brighton on Saturday.
The Egyptian player was not part of the squad for Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League match against Inter Milan after making headlines with a recent interview.
After being left out in the 3-3 draw with Leeds United, Salah expressed his dissatisfaction with being benched for three consecutive games, stating that his relationship with the manager was strained.
Slot reinstated Salah to the matchday squad for the Brighton game after a productive discussion on Friday.
Salah came on in the 26th minute to replace Joe Gomez, who was injured. He assisted Hugo Ekitike’s second goal, helping Liverpool achieve their first Premier League win in three matches.
“He was consistently a threat for us,” Slot told BBC Match of the Day. “He was involved in key moments, and his first touch nearly led to an assist. He also provided the assist from a corner and was close to scoring himself.
“It was great to see him out there and making an impact. It was satisfying.”
Salah is set to join the Egypt national team for AFCON, while Slot believes the matter has reached a resolution.
“After our conversation yesterday and his coming on as the first substitute, I think the situation has calmed down,” said Slot.
“If others want to keep discussing it, that’s okay with me.
“What we talked about and what happened today speaks for itself.”
