Carlo Ancelotti is one of the most accomplished managers in football today.
If Manchester United wants immediate results, he might be the best option. Sam Allardyce believes this too.
On the No Tippy Tappy Football Podcast, Allardyce expressed his belief that Ancelotti is the ideal manager to take over now.
“For me, there’s only one man who can do it, I think. He’s the manager of Brazil,” he commented.
When asked if he had been at Everton before Ancelotti, Allardyce said, “I was before him. He came after me. I met him several times, and I knew how good he was, but I didn’t know how good he was as a person.”
He added, “Duncan Ferguson worked with him, and he told me how great Ancelotti was. He has exceptional management skills that could bring magic to Manchester United, beyond just coaching.”
“I believe he would leap at the chance to manage Manchester United. I think he enjoys being in this country.”
If Ancelotti wins the World Cup with Brazil in 2026, many might consider him the greatest manager ever. Turning United’s fortunes around would only enhance that standing.
Ancelotti’s Interest in the United Role
Ancelotti would step into the role with the backing of Sir Alex Ferguson, given their mutual respect.
It has also come to light that Ancelotti has been interested in the United job for a while. Duncan Castles discussed this on The Transfers Podcast, noting his interest dates back to his time at Chelsea.
“Carlo Ancelotti has always wanted the Manchester United job, even when he was Chelsea’s coach,” Castles said. “It’s clear that this interest remains.”
Castles added that while United might consider Ancelotti, it would likely be after the World Cup, which could pose a challenge for Ineos if they aim for a swift decision.
