Sam Coffey is now a player for Manchester City. The English club announced the transfer from the Portland Thorns on Wednesday. Coffey has signed a contract that will last until the summer of 2029.
Manchester City is reportedly paying Portland a transfer fee of $875,000, plus possible bonuses, according to ESPN.
Coffey expressed her emotions in a farewell video from the Thorns, stating that playing in Europe has always been a dream of hers.
“Since I started playing soccer, I’ve always wanted to play professionally in Europe. This is an opportunity I can’t pass up. I would regret it if I didn’t try,” Coffey said in a video recorded at Providence Park.
