San Lorenzo Holds Important Meeting Amid Leadership Challenges

San Lorenzo is facing a significant crisis, and a Board of Directors meeting on Tuesday could shape the club’s future. Set for 3 p.m. at the Pedro Bidegain stadium, this session will address Marcelo Moretti’s return from leave and the acceptance of several board member resignations.

Recently, opposing members Marcelo Culotta and Agustina Nordenstrom stepped down, prompting others to consider resigning as a means to instigate change. They were joined by Martín Cigna, Javier Allievi, Uriel Barros, Pablo García Lago, Pablo Levalle, and Daniela Méndez Righi. These resignations will be reviewed in today’s meeting.

The opposition aims to create a leadership gap that could facilitate the formation of a new board. Reports indicate that three or four additional resignations may be necessary to achieve this. Meanwhile, president Marcelo Moretti, whose mandate lasts until December 2027, does not plan to resign. His departure could only occur through significant resignations from the board.

Vice president Miguel Ángel Lopardo, who has resigned from his role but remains on the board, is another important figure. His resignation could escalate the situation further.

Both supporters and opposition groups are calling for Moretti’s removal as crucial for restoring stability. Over 150 fans and members are expected to gather outside the stadium during the private meeting, highlighting the rising pressure.

This afternoon’s meeting could either initiate a transition due to leadership changes or result in further political stalemate, prolonging San Lorenzo’s challenges.
