San Lorenzo is facing internal issues as Marcelo Moretti aims to return to the presidency, pending a formal decision in a Board of Directors meeting. Amid this situation, a surprising press conference took place on Tuesday to reveal significant changes in the football structure, without prior notice to the club’s official communications team.

The event was hosted by José Brunengo, the new head of institutional and political press, who introduced the updated football staff. Ángel Bernuncio takes on the role of director of professional football, Walter Perazzo will manage youth football, Gabriel Martínez Poch is in charge of physical training methods, and Hernán San Martín becomes deputy director of youth football. Additionally, Mario Rizzi has been named head of professional scouting, Norberto Ortega Sánchez joins the professional football secretariat, and Darío Pacheco will oversee infrastructure at the training center.

This development has caused controversy within the club, as some board members believe that these appointments are not officially valid until Moretti returns from his leave.

Brunengo also spoke about a crucial matter for the team: “The players received their payment today for June and the mid-year bonus,” he said, noting that “the funds were provided by the president.” This news followed closely after players had threatened to stop training over delayed wages, offering temporary relief in the ongoing crisis.
