Sandro Tonali is set to remain with Newcastle for the foreseeable future. The Italian midfielder, 25, was signed in 2023 for €59 million and has recently returned to be a key player for the team after serving a lengthy 10-month suspension related to a betting scandal. According to The Athletic, the former AC Milan player signed a secret contract extension during his suspension.
While Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain were reportedly interested in Tonali, it appears he is now tied to Newcastle until June 2028. However, sources confirm that the player offered to lower his salary during his suspension, which the club accepted in exchange for a secret extension until 2029. Furthermore, the club has the option to extend his contract for an additional year. If they choose, Tonali could remain with Newcastle until June 2030.
