Reports from ESPN and confirmed by Lance! indicate that São Paulo is discussing the return of Emiliano Rigoni, who currently plays for Mexican club León. With Brazil’s transfer window closing soon, these negotiations have become urgent. The goal for São Paulo is to acquire the forward on loan with an option to buy, depending on the financial feasibility for the club.

Rigoni initially joined São Paulo in 2021 under coach Hernán Crespo, where he was often a starter. He later transferred to Austin FC in the MLS for about 4 million dollars and moved to León in 2025. Since joining León, he has faced challenges, scoring just one goal and providing one assist in 18 matches as he adapts to his new team.

The São Paulo management views Rigoni’s return as a chance to bolster the attack ahead of the Copa Libertadores. However, advancing in talks relies on finding a mutually agreeable financial arrangement. These discussions about Rigoni are separate from ongoing negotiations for striker Marcos Leonardo, whose transfer relies on approval from Al-Hilal. Ideally, both players could join, providing coach Luis Zubeldía with important attacking options for the upcoming crucial matches.
