After a strong win against Atalanta Bergamasca in their last match, Sassuolo (9th) faced Pisa (17th) at Mapei Stadium to conclude Matchday 12 of Serie A. The game started poorly for the Neroverdi, conceding a penalty within minutes, converted by former Lens player M’Bala Nzola (4′, 0-1). However, the hosts equalized quickly through Nemanja Matić, also a former Ligue 1 player (6′, 1-1). The remainder of the first half saw both teams struggle to create significant threats.

In the second half, Fabio Grosso’s Sassuolo intensified their offensive efforts against Adrian Semper. However, they were caught off guard when Henrik Meister, a former Rennes player, scored for Pisa (81′, 1-2). Just as Alberto Gilardino’s team hoped for a second consecutive victory, Kristian Thorstvedt equalized in the dying moments of the match (90’+5, 2-2). Sassuolo remains in 9th place, five points behind Como (6th), while Pisa climbs to 14th in the standings.
