The Saudi Arabian Football Federation has initiated an emergency plan to prepare for the potential departure of Hervé Renard as the head coach of the national team. With just 60 days remaining until the 2026 World Cup, the leadership is taking proactive measures by identifying five potential candidates.
Details: According to Central do Arabão, the shortlist features three coaches currently working in the Saudi league and two foreign coaches without prior experience in the Kingdom.
This strategy aims to prevent chaos in case Renard’s contract is terminated.
Despite ongoing rumors, the federation insists that no official discussions have taken place with any new candidates. The list is being regularly updated to keep options available. Meanwhile, the technical committee, which Renard leads, is currently under review, and a decision regarding the coach’s future may be finalized within the next 10 days.
Reminder: The Italian national team could enter the World Cup due to sanctions imposed on Iran.
