A spokesperson for the Saudi Pro League has stated that no individual can influence decisions beyond their own club.

Cristiano Ronaldo has voiced his dissatisfaction with the management of Al-Nassr, which is owned by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF). Al-Nassr is one of the prominent Saudi teams under PIF, along with rivals like Al-Hilal.

Ronaldo is reportedly unhappy after Al-Hilal signed his former Real Madrid teammate, Karim Benzema, from Al-Ittihad. Benzema made a strong debut, scoring a hat-trick on Thursday.

Ronaldo’s concerns about the management of Al-Nassr have raised speculation that he might leave the Saudi Pro League.

However, officials from the SPL emphasize that no single person can alter the league’s structure.

“The Saudi Pro League operates on a clear principle: every club functions independently under the same regulations,” a spokesperson informed BBC Sport.

“Each club has its own board, executives, and football leadership. Decisions regarding recruitment, spending, and strategy are made by those clubs within a financial framework aimed at ensuring sustainability and competitive balance. This framework is applicable to all teams in the league.

“Cristiano has been actively involved with Al-Nassr since joining and has contributed significantly to the club’s growth and ambitions. Like all top competitors, he aims to win.

“However, no individual, regardless of their prominence, influences decisions beyond their own club.

“Recent transfer activities illustrate this independence clearly. One club strengthened its roster in a specific way, while another opted for a different strategy. These were decisions made by the clubs, following established financial guidelines.”
