Quote: “Leo Messi will not play against Ecuador. He’s not going to travel. He’s given everything and deserves a well-earned rest and the chance to be with his family,” said Scaloni.

Messi also mentioned that he has not yet decided about his future and his involvement in the World Cup.

It’s worth noting that Lionel Messi scored two goals in what might be his last official match for Argentina. The national team won 3-0, having already secured their World Cup spot.

Reminder: Nicolás Otamendi confirmed that this was his preferred way to finish, stating it was his last official appearance for Argentina on home ground.
