Scott Parker expressed pride in his Burnley team’s performance after they managed a late draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. He believed they could have secured a victory.

Joao Pedro opened the scoring for Chelsea early in the match, but things took a turn when Wesley Fofana received a second yellow card in the second half, leaving Chelsea with ten players.

In stoppage time, Burnley capitalized on the situation when Zian Flemming scored a great header from a corner.

Parker ‘proud’ as Burnley fight back to draw with Chelsea

“It’s a bit frustrating, but overall I’m proud of the team,” Parker told BBC Sport. “Our performance deserved the point, and maybe we could have taken all three.”

“In the first half, we were getting into the game. In the second half, playing against a quality side with ten men, that can still be tough. But our determination was excellent.”

Regarding Flemming’s goal, Parker commented: “It was an incredible header. We executed the set-piece perfectly, and James always delivers.”

Burnley remains eight points from safety but Parker was relieved to bounce back after last weekend’s unexpected loss to Mansfield in the FA Cup.

“Last weekend, we brought the pressure on ourselves,” he said.

“At times, we’ve struggled against higher-level teams, but we’ve always shown togetherness, commitment, and resilience. The group’s ability to bounce back is strong, and hopefully, we can stay in this.”
