Seattle Reign FC has extended head coach Laura Harvey’s contract for several years, lasting until at least the end of the 2028 National Women’s Soccer League season, as announced on Tuesday. Previously, her contract was set to run until 2025.
Harvey, who was the team’s first coach when it was established in 2013, returns for her second term in Seattle. She is now entering her 11th season with the Reign and has 13 years of experience in the league. Harvey holds the record for the most wins in league history, with 113 regular-season victories. She has been recognized as NWSL Coach of the Year three times (2014, 2015, 2021) and has led the team to three NWSL Shields (2014, 2015, 2022) and three championship matches (2014, 2015, 2023).
General Manager Lesle Gallimore commented, “Laura sets the competitive standard for our entire program. She elevates players with intention and leads with clarity and consistency. This extension allows us to continue building with confidence, knowing we have one of the most respected and accomplished coaches in the world guiding our sporting vision.”
Following a challenging 2024 season, which marked the first without Megan Rapinoe and was affected by an uncompleted sale that resulted in losing key players, Harvey successfully turned the team around in 2025. The Reign made it back to the NWSL Playoffs that year, finishing fifth with a record of 10 wins, 7 losses, and 9 draws—16 points better than their previous season.
The Reign has focused on developing young talent, including players like Maddie Dahlien, Jordyn Bugg, and Sam Meza. Many of these players have received call-ups to the U.S. women’s national team, recognizing their growing impact in the league.
“I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity and trust the club has placed in me,” Harvey stated. “The progress we made in 2025 reflects the hard work our players and staff put in every day. Our goal is to keep expanding our talent pool, play with a clear identity, and deliver a product that represents who we are both as a club and a city.”
With a solid young roster and no major player changes this offseason, the Reign’s long-term strategy appears promising, with their coach ready to guide this youthful team forward.
