The Albania national team no longer has a coach after the 2026 World Cup qualifying match.

Details: The Serbian Football Federation accepted the resignation of head coach Dragan Stojkovic following a 0-1 loss at home against Albania in the World Cup qualifier.

Stojkovic had been with the national team since 2021, leading them to the World Cup in Qatar. However, Serbia has faced consecutive defeats recently, including a 0-5 loss to England in September and the latest defeat to Albania.

After the game, the coach stated:

“I did not expect this defeat. I take full responsibility and am resigning.”

Serbia is currently in third place in Group K with seven points, behind England and Albania. This outcome brings England closer to qualifying for the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

Notably, during the match, Albania midfielder Manaj stirred Serbian fans by making a double-headed eagle gesture after scoring.
