Barcelona started the season strongly, staying unbeaten but showing some defensive weaknesses. Their performance took a hit when PSG defeated them in the Champions League, revealing problems in defense. Now, Barcelona is looking to bounce back as they prepare to face Sevilla on Matchday 8 of the 2025-26 LaLiga season, aiming for a win to boost their confidence.

Under head coach Matias Almeyda, Sevilla has been competitive early in the league. While their squad might not be filled with top talent, they have been performing well, especially thanks to Isaac Romero’s impressive contributions. However, their real challenge will be to keep this good form against Barcelona.

This season, Barcelona has chosen to enhance their attacking strategy with high pressing. While this worked against some teams, it didn’t hold up against PSG, exposing some defensive flaws. Despite these issues, Hansi Flick might continue this strategy against Sevilla, aiming to regain momentum amid several injuries as they strive to remain at the top of LaLiga.

Sevilla predicted lineup vs Barcelona

Sevilla heads into the match against Barcelona with confidence after a recent win, but they have some key absences. Adnan Januzaj, Alfon Gonzalez, and Tanguy Nianzou are out, and Joan Jordan’s status is uncertain. This puts head coach Matias Almeyda in a tricky spot, likely to stick with his previous lineup. The focus will be on Isaac Romero and veteran Alexis Sanchez to lead the attack.

Isaac Romero of Sevilla FC celebrates scoring his team’s first goal.

With this in mind, Sevilla’s possible lineup could be: Odisseas Vlachodimos; Cesar Azpilicueta, Fabio Cardoso, Marcao; Jose Angel Carmona, Lucien Agoume, Batista Mendy, Gabriel Suazo; Alexis Sanchez, Isaac Romero, Ruben Vargas.

Like Sevilla, Barcelona also has injury challenges, with six key players unavailable: Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Joan García, Raphinha, Fermin Lopez, Gavi, and Lamine Yamal. As a result, Hansi Flick may look to make significant changes to the lineup. Despite the injuries, the team’s depth should allow them to stay competitive, likely relying on a mix of young talents and experienced players like Ferran Torres or Marcus Rashford.

In light of this, Barcelona might field the following players: Wojciech Szczesny; Jules Kounde, Ronald Araujo, Pau Cubarsi, Alejandro Balde; Frenkie De Jong, Pedri; Roony Bardghji, Dani Olmo, Marcus Rashford; Ferran Torres.
