Manchester United announced in January that Casemiro will leave the club when his contract expires this summer.
The club confirmed that the ‘legendary midfielder’ would depart after four years at Old Trafford, with no plans for an extension.
The Brazilian shared a heartfelt message to the fans, stating he will ‘carry Manchester United’ with him forever.
“I will carry Manchester United with me throughout my entire life,” Casemiro said.
“From day one at this beautiful stadium, I felt the passion of Old Trafford and the love for this special club.
“It isn’t time to say goodbye; we have many more memories to create in the next four months.
“There is still a lot to fight for together; my focus remains on giving everything to help our club succeed.”
Having turned 34 last month, questions arise about his future. He is one of the club’s top earners, and it may not be wise to offer a long contract to an aging midfielder. However, Casemiro’s recent performances under Michael Carrick have proven him essential to the team. Contrary to some opinions, he still shows quality on the pitch.
He scored the opener in Sunday’s 3-1 victory over Aston Villa at Old Trafford, securing three vital points for Champions League qualification. He has now netted six goals in the Premier League this season and assisted two others, providing solid support alongside Kobbie Mainoo and Bruno Fernandes.
Manchester United will look for a long-term midfield solution this summer, but Casemiro’s recent form suggests reconsidering his future may be worthwhile. On the right terms, it is an option for the board to consider. His mentality sets an example for a young squad.
