The January transfer window is now open, and several Premier League clubs are eager to finalize deals early.

This period can be tricky for signing new players. However, whether aiming for the title, striving for European spots, or fighting against relegation, these moves can be essential.

Here are some notable transfers expected to be completed in the first few days of the window.

Antoine Semenyo – Bournemouth to Man City

Antoine Semenyo’s transfer to Manchester City is anticipated to be the biggest deal of the window, potentially happening within the first week, despite a possible delay.

Manchester City is close to triggering Semenyo’s £65 million release clause from Bournemouth after his strong season start. Liverpool showed interest in the winger, but Chelsea withdrew from pursuit last week.

Initially believed to have played his last game during a recent 2-2 draw with Chelsea, Bournemouth’s manager insists Semenyo will play this weekend against Arsenal, who are Man City’s rivals for the title.

Brennan Johnson – Spurs to Crystal Palace

After being one of the few Spurs players to impress last season and scoring the winning goal in the UEFA Europa League final, Brennan Johnson is set to leave.

A £35 million deal with Crystal Palace has been reached as the club seeks to strengthen its attack. Bournemouth also showed interest, but Johnson has now decided to move to Selhurst Park.

Joel Ordonez – Club Brugge to Liverpool

Liverpool aims to address a pressing issue in defense this month and is reportedly close to a deal worth up to £43 million for Joel Ordonez, a centre-back from Club Brugge.

His addition would bolster a defense currently short on players after Joe Gomez’s injury last month. Giovanni Leoni, signed from Parma, is still recovering from an ACL injury.

The arrival of Ordonez may complicate Liverpool’s pursuit of Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace, but a summer move for Guehi on a free transfer remains possible.

Pascal Gross – Borussia Dortmund to Brighton

Brighton is in talks with Borussia Dortmund to bring back Pascal Gross for around £1 million. The midfielder spent seven years with Brighton before moving to Germany in 2024 and is likely to return soon. Brighton is also interested in Caleb Yirenkyi from FC Nordsjaelland.

Pablo – Gil Vicente to West Ham United

West Ham is actively seeking to enhance their squad to improve their chances of avoiding relegation.

With Niclas Fullkrug expected to depart and Callum Wilson having limited involvement, West Ham is keen to add attacking options.

Striker Pablo from Gil Vicente is set to undergo a medical on Thursday before completing a £20 million transfer. West Ham aims to finalize the deal in time for him to play in Saturday’s match against Wolves. The 21-year-old has netted 10 goals in 13 Primeira Liga matches this season.

Additionally, West Ham is looking to move Luis Guilherme, with reports of Sporting CP initiating discussions for a potential £17.5 million transfer. The winger has played only five times this season and may leave as the club seeks to sign Adama Traore from Fulham.
