Arne Slot praised the atmosphere at Anfield as Liverpool overcame a first-leg setback to defeat Galatasaray and secure a place in the Champions League quarter-finals.
Liverpool defeated the Turkish team 4-0, showcasing a strong performance after recent challenges.
Dominik Szobozlai scored the first goal for the Reds, followed by three goals in quick succession from Hugo Ekitike, Ryan Gravenberch, and Mohamed Salah in the second half.
After being booed off the pitch following a draw with Tottenham, Liverpool received tremendous support from the fans at Anfield. Slot expressed gratitude for the crowd’s encouragement during the match.
“I appreciate this support. I’ve mentioned before that we’ve faced challenges against them, not just because they’re a good team but also because of the energy from their fans,” he said.
“It’s fair to say Anfield created an even more significant atmosphere tonight. It was incredible, as it often is on European nights. This support from both players and fans was exactly what we needed.”
“Whenever they tried to disrupt the flow of the game, our fans amplified their support, which was crucial for us tonight.”
“That’s why I was perhaps a bit more animated than usual; we must tackle this challenge together, as we did tonight.”
