Arne Slot has acknowledged he anticipated better results from Liverpool this season after their loss to Wolves.
Liverpool’s struggles in defending their Premier League title continued with a defeat at Molineux on Tuesday.
The Reds conceded a last-minute goal for the fifth time this season, and this win marked only the third for the bottom-placed Wolves.
Liverpool currently sits fifth in the Premier League and is working to secure a spot in the Champions League.
In the post-match press conference, Slot was asked if expectations had changed after the defeat. He mentioned that his ambitions have shifted throughout a challenging season.
“My expectations have changed because I hoped for better results than we are currently achieving. This setback has not helped us at all,” he noted. “There are still eight Premier League games left. Dropping points in matches like this, where it’s unnecessary, is frustrating… we didn’t play exceptionally well, but if we played this match ten times, I don’t think we would lose all ten.
“Winning every time isn’t guaranteed since we didn’t perform well enough. We need to improve, but we had chances to win the game.
“Credit goes to Wolves for their effort; they battled from start to end and earned their luck based on their performance throughout the match.”
