Arne Slot has stated that Alisson Becker will be evaluated before Liverpool‘s match against Tottenham Hotspur this weekend.
The goalkeeper missed the recent Champions League match against Galatasaray due to a muscle issue, with Giorgi Mamardashvili stepping in and making two crucial saves in a 1-0 defeat that Liverpool will need to improve upon in the next week.
The Georgian goalkeeper could get the nod again against Spurs if Alisson cannot prove he is fit in time.
During his pre-match press conference, Slot mentioned that Liverpool is ‘hopeful’ about the Brazilian’s condition but did not confirm if he would be available. He did confirm that Federico Chiesa has recovered from his illness.
“He [Alisson] felt something during a pass in one of his muscles, but after our assessment, it looks minor, and we don’t think it will keep him out for long. However, games come quickly, so he had to sit out the one against Galatasaray, and we hope he will be ready for Sunday,” Slot explained.
“If not, I definitely expect him to be back for the match against Galatasaray [on Wednesday].”
“As for Chiesa, I believe he is feeling better now. He was unwell the day before the game, but since we are now three or four days later, he should be able to train with us again today.”
