Head coach Emma Hayes announced the roster: “It’s great to welcome back Sophia and Tierna. They are strong players and enhance our team culture.”

Hayes has also reintroduced experienced goalkeeper Jane Campbell from the Houston Dash. Campbell, who has 10 caps, last played internationally on February 26, 2025, during a match against Japan. Additionally, 23-year-old forward Michelle Cooper returns to the squad in 2026 after recovering from injuries.

The roster includes 19 players from the NWSL and seven currently active in European clubs.

This marks only the second time during Hayes’ tenure that her senior national team roster includes no uncapped players, the first being for the SheBelieves Cup. Statistics indicate the team is becoming more experienced, with an average of 37.4 caps per player ahead of the first match against Japan.

The first match will occur in San Jose, California, on April 11, followed by a game in Seattle, Washington, on April 14, and concluding with a third match in Commerce City, Colorado, on April 17. Claire Hutton from Bay FC and Reign’s Claudia Dickey will play in their respective home stadiums in San Jose and Seattle.

In their last encounter, Japan defeated the U.S. 2-1 in February 2025 to win the SheBelieves Cup.

Japan recently claimed the 2026 Asian Cup title by beating Australia 1-0 in the final, securing their place in the 2027 World Cup along with Australia, China, North Korea, the Philippines, and South Korea.

“Japan is one of the top teams globally, performing well after their Asian Cup victory. Playing them three times in a row will provide a significant challenge for our team,” said Hayes.

The U.S. won the 2026 SheBelieves Cup earlier in March.
