Sporting Kansas City has extended the contract of left back Zorhan Bassong on Monday.
The 26-year-old Canadian defender’s new contract will last until the 2028-29 season, with options extending through 2030-31.
Sporting KC general manager David Lee expressed happiness over Bassong’s decision to stay with the club on a long-term basis.
He noted, “Zorhan is an experienced player who we believe has not yet reached his full potential. He possesses all the qualities we look for in a defender and can play in multiple positions. His presence and attitude make him a valuable leader in our team.”
Since joining SKC before the 2024 season, Bassong has contributed one goal and four assists in 51 matches. Before that, he played for CF Montreal from 2021 to 2022 and has had professional experiences in Romania, Belgium, and France.
