St. Louis City SC has signed midfielder Daniel Edelman from the New York Red Bulls.
In return, New York will receive up to $850,000 in general allocation money for the 22-year-old player.
The agreement includes $500,000 in GAM for 2026, $200,000 in 2027, and up to an additional $150,000 based on certain performance markers. The Red Bulls will also keep a percentage for any future transfer or trade.
“We thank Daniel for his contributions to our club and wish him well in the next chapter of his career,” said Julian de Guzman, head of sport for the Red Bulls.
“He has shown professionalism and dedication while representing our club, and we appreciate all he has done for the organization.”
Edelman has scored three goals and provided two assists in 96 MLS matches (86 starts) since joining NYRB in 2022, helping the team reach the MLS Cup final in 2024.
“Daniel is a strong, energetic midfielder who will enhance our midfield competition,” said Corey Wray, sporting director of St. Louis.
“He has gained valuable MLS experience at a young age and demonstrated maturity in his game. We believe he can continue to grow and improve at this level. We look forward to welcoming him to St. Louis as we enhance our roster.”
Edelman’s first match with St. Louis will be on February 21 against Charlotte FC.
