There will be no comeback! Steven Gerrard turns down Rangers return
Steven Gerrard has turned down the chance to manage Rangers again. He held discussions with the club but decided it wasn’t the right time for a return.
The former Liverpool and England captain met with club officials earlier this week after Russell Martin was let go. Although the talks went well, Gerrard ultimately chose not to return to Ibrox soon. Following difficult spells with Aston Villa and Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia, he is not rushing into a new management role.
At 45, Gerrard, who guided Rangers to their league title in 2020/21, had shown interest in returning to coaching. However, reports suggest he stepped back before the final interview, leaving Rangers in need of a new manager after Martin’s exit. The decision to part ways with Martin came after a draw against Falkirk, which saw frustrated fans trying to block the team bus.
