Malappuram and Calicut are set to face each other in the Super League Kerala tomorrow, October 19, 2025, as both teams aim to return to their winning ways. The match is scheduled for a 7:30 PM kickoff at the Payyanad Stadium. In their last outing, Malappuram FC drew with Kannur Warriors. Calicut, on the other hand, lost their home game against Thrissur Magic FC by a single goal. A victory is therefore important for both sides.

Earlier in the season, Malappuram had defeated Thrissur, while Calicut FC had won against Kochi Forces in their first match. Currently, Malappuram has four points from two games, and Calicut has three points from their two matches.

Malappuram enters this match with a strong defensive record, having maintained a clean sheet in their past two games. In contrast, Calicut has conceded goals in both of their matches. The good form of Malappuram’s goalkeeper Azhar and defenders including Aitor, Hakku, Jithin, and Nithin Madhu is a significant advantage for the team. Their attack is also looking sharp, with players like Badr, Facundo, Roy Krishna, Gani, and Abhijith finding their rhythm. Coach Miguel Corral is not expected to make significant changes to the starting lineup from the last game.

This year, key players Abdul Hakku, Gani Nigam, and John Kennedy, who were instrumental in Calicut’s title win last season, are now playing for Malappuram. This adds an interesting dimension to the upcoming clash at Payyanad. In last season’s encounters, Calicut had the upper hand, winning both the home and away fixtures against Malappuram. Now, all eyes are on whether Malappuram can turn the tables and avenge last year’s defeats.
