Real Madrid confirmed on Thursday that defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has sustained an injury to the rectus femoris muscle in his left thigh. The injury occurred during the club’s 3-0 La Liga victory over Athletic Bilbao. According to reports, he may be out of action for up to two months.
The 25-year-old player, who provided his first La Liga assist for Real Madrid during the match, had to leave the field early in the second half after feeling discomfort.
Due to this injury, he is expected to miss up to 13 games. These include important Champions League matches against Manchester City, Monaco, and Benfica.
This is the second muscle-related issue for Alexander-Arnold this season, shortly after he joined Real Madrid from Liverpool. He was previously sidelined for several weeks with a hamstring strain.
