A polarizing reaction.
The announcement of Chelsea‘s interests in Strasbourg and its ownership by the BlueCo group has led to protests from French fans. This discontent has escalated to the point where even the team captain has been booed.
Details: Recently, it was confirmed that Strasbourg striker Emanuel Emegha will transfer to Chelsea in 2026. During the team’s first home match since this news—a Sunday game against Le Havre—fans protested.
Supporters from the Ultra Boys group displayed a banner at the Stade de la Meinau that said: “Emegha, BlueCo’s pawn. Return the captain’s armband after you change shirts.” Emegha was also met with boos from some fans when he received the “Player of the Month” award before the match. Both Emegha and head coach Liam Rosenior were disappointed by the fans’ response.
For the record: Emegha was one of Strasbourg’s standout players last season, scoring 14 goals and providing 3 assists in 27 matches, helping the team achieve seventh place in the league.
