A conflict is brewing between Trump and FIFA
A clash of interests.
Trump claims he can dictate World Cup match locations.
Details: There’s a conflict between U.S. President Donald Trump and FIFA over the hosting cities for the 2026 World Cup, according to Frontofficesports.
Trump believes he has the power to change FIFA World Cup match venues in the U.S., but FIFA disagrees.
Previously, Trump remarked:
“If I decide it’s unsafe, we’ll move it out of the city,” Trump stated. “If we consider any city even remotely dangerous for the World Cup… we won’t allow it.”
FIFA’s vice president, Victor Montagliani, responded, emphasizing:
“This is a FIFA tournament, under FIFA jurisdiction, and FIFA makes these decisions.”
FIFA confirmed that they are sticking to the host city plan approved in 2022 and that any venue changes will be decided solely by FIFA.
