Dan-Axel Zagadou (26 years old) is facing another challenging period as he continues to struggle with injuries. The VfB Stuttgart central defender sustained an injury during training on the eve of their Europa League match against Go Ahead Eagles. Coach Sebastian Hoeneß confirmed that Zagadou will not travel to the Netherlands due to a “significant muscle injury.” Unlike his previous knee injuries, this latest setback is related to a muscle issue, and he won’t be able to return as soon as next week.
After managing only brief appearances, totaling just 179 minutes this season and 27 minutes last season because of two serious knee injuries, Zagadou seemed to finally be regaining his form and establishing himself as a defensive leader on the field. “I give everything to stay healthy. I’ve prayed for these moments,” he recently shared, according to Bild. This new injury is undoubtedly another setback for both him and Stuttgart, which loses a player capable of performing at the highest level.
