The Dressing Room Awaits the Return of Paul Pogba

The excitement around Pogba has finally reached Monaco. Last Saturday, he made his long-awaited return to the football field after 811 days, playing against Rennes. Although he only spent 8 minutes on the pitch during a challenging 1-4 defeat, he showcased his exceptional technical skills and game vision. This has rekindled enthusiasm that had been dwindling since his signing earlier this summer.

His lengthy recovery and recent setback had dampened the spirits of some supporters, who were starting to lose hope in seeing him regain his top-level capabilities. However, the former Juventus player returned to action last week. While he did not play against Paphos in the Champions League, AS Monaco is cautious and aims to integrate him gradually into a team that desperately needs his talent.

Pogba Wants to Take His Time

According to Équipe, Paul Pogba will not be starting against PSG at Louis II this Saturday. It’s still too early for him to handle the intensity of a match, especially against a PSG team where players like Vitinha and João Neves dominate the midfield. However, his teammates are looking forward to his presence. The report states that the locker room hopes Pogba will take on more leadership roles.

Pogba has earned respect within the team but seems hesitant to assert himself, feeling he hasn’t yet earned that role. Nonetheless, the squad believes that the 32-year-old midfielder should become a leader. Without consistent playing time, Pogba thinks it is still premature for that. His leadership will likely develop with time and match experience, but both he and AS Monaco remain committed to a cautious path in his return to form. The journey has been too long to jeopardize it now.
