The group stage draw for the FIFA World Cup 2026 is set to take place today, December 5, 2025. The ceremony will be held at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C. The event is scheduled to start at 12:00 PM Eastern Time, which corresponds to 10:30 PM Indian Standard Time.
This draw prepares for a historic 48-team tournament jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The expanded event will feature 104 matches over 39 days. The tournament begins on June 11, 2026, with the final scheduled to be played at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
Alongside the draw, FIFA has confirmed the new format for the competition. It will consist of 12 groups of 4 teams each. The top two teams from every group, plus the eight best third-placed teams, will advance to the knockout phase, the Round of 32.
In India, there will be no television broadcast of the draw ceremony. However, viewers can watch the live stream on FIFA+ and the official FIFA World Cup social media channels, including YouTube.
