The Hottest Transfers of the 2025 Transfer Market

After three months of competition and a third of Ligue 1 already played, it’s time to review the transfer market with its successes and failures. Here’s a look at the notable signings among the top teams.

Starting with Marseille, Nayef Aguerd was signed for €23 million in the final hours of the transfer window. The 29-year-old defender has quickly added stability and experience to a defense that has struggled recently. With 12 matches played already, the Moroccan has proven to be a key player for Marseille, scoring a goal against PSG for their first victory at the Vélodrome against their major rivals since 2011. Currently surprising in third place, the Racing Club de Lens has made several good choices in the last transfer window.

Lens a eu tout bon

Consider Robin Risser, who arrived for €3 million from Strasbourg after a loan to Red Star last season. The 20-year-old goalkeeper has made an excellent start for Lens, with 11 matches and 3 clean sheets, even earning a call-up to the French U21 team. He is backed by Matthieu Udol, transferred from FC Metz under challenging circumstances, but he has quickly proven his worth in both left-back and central defense positions, contributing 1 assist in 11 appearances.

He partners well with Samson Baidoo, whose contributions have also been significant this season. The 21-year-old Austrian (10 matches, 2 goals) is an exciting find after arriving from RB Salzburg for €8 million. Mamadou Sangaré has become a key midfielder, also coming from Austria for €8 million from Rapid Vienna. The Austrian Bundesliga scouts certainly have a keen eye. Additionally, Florian Thauvin has made an impact with 2 goals in 11 matches, becoming the playmaker for the team and earning a recent call-up to the national team.

Les révélations Igamane et Sulc

Lille has also done well in recruitment. Olivier Létang can take pride in spotting talent in Hamza Igamane. Signed just hours before the deadline from the Rangers for €11.5 million, the Moroccan forward scored twice on his debut against Lorient. Now, two months later, he has netted 7 goals (1 assist) in 13 appearances. His teammate Felix Correia, brought from Gil Vicente for €7 million, has already proven to be a smart acquisition with 3 goals and 4 assists in 15 matches.

On the left, Romain Perraud, signed from Betis for €3 million, has made an impact with 2 goals and an assist in 11 matches. Pavel Sulc has also shined with a tally of 5 goals and 3 assists out of 15 games, making him OL’s top scorer this season. Tyler Morton has quickly become a key player in set-piece situations and has contributed significantly in 14 appearances with 1 goal.

Panichelli déjà récompensé

No top recruit review would be complete without mentioning Joaquín Panichelli. Strasbourg surely doesn’t regret spending €16.5 million to sign him from Alavés. The Argentine forward has netted 9 goals in Ligue 1, 10 including the Europa Conference League, and has recently been called up to the national team. Following closely behind is Esteban Lepaul, who transferred from Angers to Stade Rennais for €13.5 million just before the window closed, already finding the net 7 times this season. Lower down the table, we see Fodé Doucouré, who was signed free from Red Star by Le Havre, and Hervé Koffi, on loan from Lens to Angers, who have also brought in Amine Sbaï.

Lastly, Lorient made a smart move by acquiring Arsène Kouassi for €1.2 million from AC Ajaccio.
