Leverkusen Shields Piero Hincapie with Contract Extension Until 2029

Footem.in – Bayer Leverkusen insists it has received no formal offers from Arsenal for Piero Hincapie, despite reports linking the London club with a move if Jakub Kiwior departs. The German side is adamant about keeping the young defender.

Arsenal’s Interest in Hincapie

Arsenal reportedly plans to pursue Piero Hincapie before the Premier League transfer window closes next Monday, but only if Jakub Kiwior leaves the club.

Kiwior is a target for Porto, who have already held talks with Arsenal after their initial offer was rejected last month.

Negotiations are ongoing regarding a loan deal with an option to buy next summer, including discussions about bonuses and additional fees.

The total value of the agreement is yet to be finalized but is expected to exceed the $27 million Arsenal paid for Kiwior two years ago. If the Polish defender leaves, Hincapie is Arsenal’s primary replacement choice.

Hincapie’s Profile and Contract Situation

Piero Hincapie, 23, can play as both a central defender and a left-back. Arsenal’s interest predates this summer.

The Gunners have been actively searching for a left-footed left-back for the past 18 months, with Jorrel Hato—now at Chelsea—also considered.

Hincapie has a release clause in his contract worth approximately $70.5 million (€60 million or £52 million).

Arsenal hopes to pay less than this figure or structure a deal involving an initial loan before making the move permanent next summer. However, all plans hinge on Kiwior’s departure.

Leverkusen’s Firm Stance

Bayer Leverkusen’s sporting director, Simon Rolfes, has stated that no official offers have been received from any club, including Arsenal.

“We have not received any official offers from any club, so he is still our player. That is the status quo,” Rolfes told RTL/ntv and sport.de.

He added that Hincapie is a highly valued player and the club wishes to keep him at the BayArena. Leverkusen, keen to retain a key player, has Hincapie under contract until 2029.

Leverkusen’s Transfer Moves

As the German League transfer deadline approaches, Leverkusen is also looking to strengthen its squad. They have been linked with Feyenoord midfielder Quinten Timber, brother of Arsenal player Jurrien Timber.

“The transfer window is still open until Monday evening,” Rolfes said. “So, it is very possible that there will still be movement.”
