Thiago Silva is leaving Fluminense to continue his career in European football, aiming for a place in Brazil’s 2026 World Cup team.
The defender wants to join a top club again to strengthen his chances of being selected for the national squad.
John Terry has encouraged Chelsea to sign Silva, adding valuable experience to their defense for the remainder of the season.
Silva has a history with Chelsea, having joined in 2020, and fans would likely welcome his return as one of their standout defenders.

Simon Phillips reports that Silva is open to returning to Stamford Bridge and is willing to reduce his salary.
However, Phillips noted that a transfer is unlikely unless Chelsea sells one of their current defenders this January.
“He wants to play for a London club, and Chelsea is his top choice, but he is considering other options,” Phillips said. “Unless there are injuries or sales involving Axel Disasi and Tosin Adarabioyo/Benoit Badiashile, there isn’t room for another centre-back. If two of them were moved on, then it could happen.”
“Currently, there are no plans to sell a centre-back in the winter window. Silva won’t return unless things change.”
Chelsea fans have a strong appreciation for Silva. His influence at the club was significant both on the field and in guiding younger players.
The veteran defender has played with many current squad members, and his contributions are well-remembered.
Trevoh Chalobah recently stated how much he learned from Silva during their time together. Chalobah is now a key player for the team.
His leadership qualities have also been acknowledged, with Romeo Lavia calling him one of the best leaders in football—a sought-after trait as the team faces a critical year ahead.
