Thierry Henry to Receive BBC Lifetime Achievement Award

Thierry Henry will receive the Lifetime Achievement award at the BBC Sports Personality of the Year awards.

Henry is known as one of the top footballers in Premier League history, with a successful career at Arsenal. He joined from Juventus in 1999 and won two league titles and three FA Cups with the team, while setting numerous records.

He holds the club record with 228 goals across two spells, along with three FWA Footballer of the Year awards and four Premier League Golden Boot awards, both of which are joint records. He also shares the record for most assists in a Premier League season, with 20.

On the international stage, he won a World Cup and a European Championship with France and was the record scorer for his country at the time of retirement.

Henry will accept the award at the 2025 BBC Sports Personality of the Year show on Thursday evening.

Regarding his award, Henry stated, “Football has given me everything and I gave it my all.

“You are Mr Arsenal. I love you!” ❤️

Since the award began in 1996, many prominent football figures have received it, including Manchester United legends Alex Ferguson, Bobby Charlton, George Best, and David Beckham, Brazilian great Pele, and Liverpool legend Kenny Dalglish.

Cyclist Mark Cavendish won the Lifetime Achievement award in 2024.
