Camavinga Returns: Real Madrid Strengthened After International Break

Footem.in – Real Madrid has started the 2025-2026 La Liga season strongly, securing two wins in their opening two matches. The team, managed by Xabi Alonso, has scored four goals and maintained a clean sheet so far.

In both games, Alonso had to manage without four injured players: Ferland Mendy, Jude Bellingham, Endrick, and Eduardo Camavinga.

These four players are unlikely to be fit for this weekend’s La Liga match against Mallorca.

According to Marca, Eduardo Camavinga is expected to return to action after the international break in September 2025.

Initially, the 22-year-old midfielder was slated to resume training this week, potentially joining the squad for the home game against Mallorca on Sunday, August 31, 2025.

Camavinga and Endrick Targeted for September Return

However, Camavinga did not participate in today’s team training session. Therefore, his return is now projected to occur later.

The current plan is for Camavinga, who recently declined a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia, to return to training and play after the international break, when Madrid faces Real Sociedad around September 13-14.

Endrick’s return is also anticipated around the same time, while Mendy is expected to be back towards the end of next month.

Bellingham’s recovery from shoulder surgery will require a more extended period.

Mendy’s Position Under Pressure

Alonso doesn’t seem overly concerned about Mendy’s absence. The summer acquisition of Alvaro Carreras has significantly strengthened the left-back position, giving the 43-year-old coach a reliable starter.

This, combined with Fran Garcia’s promising performance in the Club World Cup, has reassured Alonso about the depth in that position. As a result, Ferland Mendy’s struggle to regain fitness has been somewhat overshadowed.

The 30-year-old French international defender sustained an injury in April 2025 and has been sidelined since. He was initially hoped to be back for the start of the season but missed the deadline.
