Thomas Frank acknowledged that Spurs have “definitely” taken a “step backward” following their defeat to Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Sunday.
Nottingham Forest capitalized on a defensive error, with Callum Hudson-Odoi scoring the first goal in the 27th minute.
Hudson-Odoi added another goal with a stunning strike from the left, beating Guglielmo Vicario.
He also assisted Ibrahim Sangare for the third goal, which was a powerful long-range shot that hit the post before going in.
This result means Spurs have lost three of their last five Premier League games and are now in the bottom half of the table.
“I think there have been some positive steps in the last three games,” Frank told BBC Match of the Day. “Today, the performance and result were not good, definitely a step backward. It was a frustrating afternoon.
“I felt optimistic coming into this match. After going 1-0 down, we became disjointed. We didn’t win enough duels or second balls, and we kept losing possession, which doesn’t help in winning games.
“Sometimes a team just has a bad day for various reasons. The players need to be in sync. That didn’t happen, and we made two mistakes for the first two goals.”
Archie Gray lost the ball near the box after receiving a pass from Vicario, leading to Forest’s opening goal. The 19-year-old was substituted in the 60th minute.
“I think he reacted well. He continuously asked for the ball and kept going. The pass to Archie was fine; it was a simple bounce. He just needs one touch. Archie will learn from that.
“There’s pressure on all of us every game. We need to perform. It can’t all depend on one person; that wouldn’t be good for any of us.
“We will bounce back, that’s for sure.”
