Thomas Frank provides update on Dejan Kulusevski’s injury
Tottenham is still waiting for news on Dejan Kulusevski. The Swedish midfielder is recovering from a knee injury sustained late last season, requiring surgery on his patella. This has kept him out for several months. He began light training on grass following the November international break, but a return date remains uncertain.
Journalist Alasdair Gold noted last week that Thomas Frank’s lack of updates on Kulusevski suggested he was not close to returning to team training. Frank’s recent comments have heightened concerns as fans wait for a key update:
“We know it’s a complicated injury. If there’s one person who can expedite this, it’s Dejan,” Frank told the club’s official website ahead of the FA Cup match against Aston Villa.
“He’s a dedicated professional with a strong mentality. The main priority is to eliminate the pain in his knee. He received an injection to assist with that 10 days ago. In three to four weeks, we will know if things have improved, and hopefully, he’ll be on the grass. From there, we’ll assess the next steps.”
Tottenham faces longer wait for Kulusevski’s return
Kulusevski seems to have encountered a setback in recovering from his knee injury. He had shown signs of improvement by returning to training on grass in November, indicating that his rehabilitation was proceeding well, with hopes for a return by late December.
However, based on Frank’s latest comments, it appears the 25-year-old will not be back this month. Given the duration of his absence, it may take additional time for him to regain full fitness. Fans might not see Kulusevski at his best until the final stages of the season, even if he resumes playing by late February or March.
